Author: Clare C. Marshall
Published: October 13th, 2012 (Faery Ink Press)
Pages: 243
Source: for review
Series: The Violet Fox #1
Rating: 3.5 stars
Synopsis from Goodreads:
Run.
That’s what instinct told me.
But in order to save the secrets of my people
and to protect my brother
I have to become the enemy.

Kiera Driscoll is a Freetor. She lives underground with them, like her brother and Laoise, her friend. She joins The Fighters to help the Freetors live, mostly by stealing things. The war between them and the Marlenian, who live above ground, is over for two hundred years, but the hatred is still there.

Kiera goes above ground wearing a violet cape and mask, which gave her the nickname The Violet Fox. The Council of Elders request her to fulfill a secret mission. She must return what was stolen from them. And to do so she must disguise herself as a noblewoman and must seek the "love" of the Prince Keegan. But does everyone tell the truth?

I started this book while I had a reading slump. I managed to get through the first chapter and then put it aside for almost a month. I picked it up again feeling a bit hesitant, because the first chapter wasn't at all what I hoped it would be. But this just shows how horrible a reading slump can be. After a month I picked it up again and finished it within a day! I think that says enough! OK, it doesn't have that many pages, but I read it in almost one sitting.

I love books with an original story and The Violet Fox is pretty original! I liked the idea about underground and above ground and that the worlds mingle. The book has a couple of twists, and I hadn't see that ending coming!

I couldn't always empathize with Kiera, she was a bit arrogant here and there. It just made me love Prince Keegan even more. He’s really a Prince Charming.

I’m really glad the author asked me to be part of this Blog Tour and giving me the opportunity to read and review this book!
