Top Ten Tuesday REWIND

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday has another topic and different bloggers give their top ten. I love making lists, so here's mine for this week!

This week topic is
Top Ten Tuesday REWIND
Book to Movie Adaptations

This week is Top Ten Tuesday REWIND and I chose the book to movie adaptions topic. Most of the time I really like seeing a book come to life!

1. Harry Potter

I love the books! I've re-read them multiple times, but sometimes it's just faster to watch the movie! And I really like them! My favorite switches a lot, but now it's part 7.2. It's really sad, but it has some amazing moments. Like McGonnagall saying: "I've always wanted tot do that" (or something like this), I just love it! (I just noticed: Harry Potter is one of the very few books who didn't get movie covers! I know I'm not very fast...)

The Fellowship of the Ring (The Lord of the Rings, #1)2. The Lord of the Rings

When the movies were just released I couldn't stop watching them! I think I saw the first one over three (!) times in the cinema. For me that's extreme! When the dvd's came out I've watched them so many times, and then a couple of years: nothing. I couldn't stand them. But luckily the love has returned. A couple of weeks ago I watched them again and they're just awesome!
The picture on this cover is my favorite piece in the movie! I think it's so beautiful!
The Devil Wears Prada
3. The Devil Wears Prada

This is my sick movie. Every time I don't feel very well, I end up watching this movie. It's the perfect movie for that. I watched the movie before reading the book and it's slightly different and every time I thought: huh, what's happening here? In the movie ... I intend to re-read the book some time, but for now I'll just watch the movie!

The Notebook4. The Notebook

Also the case of first movie, then book. But since the movie is really true to the book, it didn't really matter. I like the movie better though.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (Sisterhood of Traveling Pants, #1)5. The Sisterhood of The Traveling Pants

Making this lists starts me thinking about myself. On my "about me" page I wrote that I always watch the film after reading the book. And well hello, third movie in a row I saw before reading the book. I still stick with my idea that you should first read the book and then watch the movie! That's the right order. A movie can change things about a book, but not the other way around! Two movies, four books: it worked out perfectly. All the important things from the books are put in the films. This was the only time I preferred watching the movies before reading the books. They give something extra.

6. The Twilight Saga

My grandma gave me a copy of Twilight. I wasn't reading much back then, so I put it on my shelves. One Sunday afternoon (although it could easily be a Monday  I wanted to read something and picked up this copy and got totally hooked! This was at the same time the film was in the cinema's. I remember that I thought the emotions from the book were translated pretty good into the movie. I like them and watch them every now and then, but they're not my favorites anymore. But I look forward to the last one!
The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1)
7. The Hunger Games

Sometimes I think there's really something wrong with me: I can't watch video games, because they make me sick and the way this movie was filmed did the same to me. I sat through the entire movie hoping not to vomit, so not a really nice experience. I like the book better!
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Movie Tie-in Edition (Chronicles of Narnia #2)
8. Narnia

I think I saw all three movies, but I'm not entirely sure. I've read the books after seeing the first movie (maybe I should just change that on my "about me" page), and I like them equally.
The Secret Circle: The Initiation and The Captive Part I TV Tie-in Edition (The Secret Circle, #1-2)
9. The Secret Circle

I read this book a long time ago (well, two years...) and I forgot some details (like Cassie's mom not being dead at all in the books), but I liked the series. I was disappointed there isn't going to be a season two.

Beastly10. Beastly

I love a retelling of fairy tales! I liked the book better than the movie, but it was fun to watch.

Let me know what book to movie adaptions you love! And I'm curious to see what other topics have been chosen this week! Yay for REWIND!

  1. I loved all the Harry Potter films, The Hunger Games and Narnia; they're the only ones I've watched and read, though I've also seen The Notebook, Devil wears Prada and Sisterhood. I've only seen one film I loved more than the book, which was The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas; I adore the book, but I loved the film a little more... it captured the sense of the awful life in a way I could see more clearly than the book.

    Happy top ten!

  6. Nice picks! I have to admit that I still haven't seen the Harry Potter movies. Just loved the books too much, I guess. But I actually liked the LOTR movies better, because of all the beautiful scenery. And Orlando Bloom... *sigh*

  7. I love HP, LOTR and Hunger Games! I also liked the Narnia movies though I think they differed quite a bit from the books at times (it's been a long time since I've read those tough). I also liked the Notebook movie better than the book. Still haven't seen the Beastly movie because the book didn't exactly blow me away. Great list!

You can check out what rewind topic I chose here.

  8. Harry Potter <3 The last two movies were the best!
LOTR, one of my favorite fantasy movies. I can't read the books, because I always get stuck, but damn. On the screen <3
    The notebook, wonderful story.
THG, I liked the movie even more than the book.

I'm afraid to watch Beastly.. I really liked the book, but he looks. Bad. Not an animal at all.

  9. I really loved THG move adaptation. The final Harry Potter film is my favourite out of the eight, I think they did a fantastic job with the adaptation. I've read The Notebook, but haven't watched the film. I'll definitely have to change that soon.

    Thanks for stopping by! :)

  12. Love so many of these: LOTR, Harry Potter, Devil Wears Prada, Hunger Games -- and we actually have the 3rd Narnia movie checked out from the library right now (Voyage of the Dawn Treader) because my kids are discovering them, and they LOVE them. And I think it's funny you have a "sick movie." Mine for YEARS was The Three Musketeers, the Disney one with Chris O'Donnell. Every time I stayed home from school sick, my mom would go to Blockbuster (because when I was in high school, we still had those) and check it out for me. I'm not really sure why we didn't just buy it :-)

  13. I never thought about the HP books not getting movie covers either. That's awesome cause I think movie covers suck. My favorite HP movie switches between 3 and 7.2 all the time. Depends on my mood.

I loved The Notebook movie so much more than the book. And of course THG was awesome!
