Wreck This Journal by Keri Smith

Title: Wreck This Journal, Creabewaarbox (Dutch version)
Author: Keri Smith
Published: June, 2012 (Unieboek | Het Spectrum)
Pages: 192
Source: for review
Rating: 4 stars
Synopsis from Goodreads: For anyone who's ever wished to, but had trouble starting, keeping, or finishing a journal or sketchbook comes Wreck This Journal, an illustrated book that features a subversive collection of prompts, asking readers to muster up their best mistake- and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book (and destroy them). Acclaimed illustrator Keri Smith encourages journalers to engage in "destructive" acts-poking holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting with coffee, and more-in order to experience the true creative process. Readers discover a new way of art and journal making-and new ways to escape the fear of the blank page and fully engage in the creative process.
Ever thought about throwing a book across the room? Or jump on it? Put a pencil through the page? Make it all dirty? Draw in it? With Wreck This Journal you can! I had the most fun following the assignments!
But instead of writing a review, I'll show you some of my pictures. I hope you'll like them!

Breaking the Spine. That hurt!
Rip the pages. I always wanted to do that!

Before
After

Pencil through the page!
And the result.
Assignment: give this page a smell, so I did! Berry :)

It should have been coffee, but I only drink tea. So tea it was!
Pick a photo you hate and ruin it. Muhahaha

Drawing with ink and weird tools like leaves, paperclips. My boyfriend helped me with this one!

A list for things to ruin this book some more. Maybe I'll wash it!

These are my own photo's, so I have the rights to them. Please, do not copy them.

Upcoming (13)

In Upcoming I talk about the books that I will review on this blog. So you know what you can expect here in the upcoming days.

This week

Review Pledged by Gwynneth White
Everyone has a soul mate. But what do you do when your soul mate would rather give his soul to the demons than be with you?
Seventeen-year-old Erin has a problem. Seth has been hers forever, but now an ancient curse is tearing him away. And the demons who invoked it will stop at nothing – even murder – to claim him as their own.
How can she win against a curse so binding that it has damned countless others to this same fate – an eternity alone?
The answer lies in the past. To find it, Erin and Seth must risk all, travelling back in time to a dangerous world where love is forbidden, and life – and death – hang on a pledge.
Follow Erin and Seth as they travel to ancient Shenaya and confront the curse that has plagued their families for millennia. Caught in a war between the Angelic Guardians and the Gefallen, the disembodied dead, they must fight to keep their souls in tact and their love untainted.

Review Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.
Her opponents are men—thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the kings council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for three years and then be granted her freedom.
Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilirating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her... but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.
Then one of the other contestants turns up dead... quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.
