Top Ten Favorite New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2012

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. Every Tuesday has another topic and different bloggers give their top ten. I love making lists, so here's mine for this week!

This week topic is

Top Ten Favorite New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2012

TTT's are never really easy to make, but I had some real trouble putting together this one! I kept coming across New-To-Me Authors! I excluded all authors who were published this year (even if I discovered them later in the year), but even then the list got pretty long! I 'blame' it on the blogging! Since I started this blog I've discovered some amazing authors! I only included authors I've read books by for the first time this year!

Inside Out (Insiders, #1)The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1)Hex Hall (Hex Hall, #1)
Nightshade (Nightshade, #1)Born at Midnight (Shadow Falls, #1)
Uglies (Uglies, #1)Dearly, Departed (Gone With the Respiration, #1)Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1)
Gone (Gone, #1)Nevermore (Nevermore, #1)

Maria V. Snyder
After hearing so many amazing things about this author I jumped at the chance when I could read Inside Out in exchange for a review, since it was published this year in Dutch. And yes, this author is just as amazing as everyone says she is! If you haven't read anything by her yet, get started next year!

Julie Kagawa
This is actually a similar story to Maria V. Snyder. Only I had The Iron King on my wish list for a long time in the English version, I just never bought it. Until it was finished in Dutch and I also got the chance to read it in exchange for a review. I've read the whole series in less than a month, including The Lost Prince!

Rachel Hawkins
I discovered Rachel Hawkins this year. Hex Hall popped up on one of my recommendations lists (Goodreads or Amazon probably) and I was immediately intrigued by the cover. It took some time before I actually bought it (which happens a lot with me), but I loved Hex Hall. It took me a lot less time to buy Demonglass, but it only arrived last week, so I haven't read it yet.

Andrea Cremer
Earlier this year I went through a point where most of the books I bought were about vampires or werewolves. So, of course, Nightshade was also on that list! I loved it! Although Wolfsbane is still waiting for me on my TBR pile!

C.C. Hunter
You probably guessed I bought this book around the same time as Nightshade, because it includes vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters and an amazing writing style! Born at Midnight is definitely a book I recommend!

Scott Westerfeld
A friend of mine recommended me this series. I was a bit hesitant at first, but she wass so enthusiastic that I went for it! Uglies is such a cool read! I love it when books make you think and this one definitely does that! I hope to read book #3 next year!

Lia Habel
I've this really bad habit of not really researching the books I request (mostly on Netgally). So I jumped up and down with joy when I got approved for Dearly, Beloved, because I thought it sounded so cool. Only to discover later that Dearly, Departed is the first book in the series. Which is not a bad thing! I absolutely loved reading this series.

Becca Fitzpatrick
Since I started blogging I've discovered a lot of new authors! Mostly new-to-everyone who I haven't included in this list, but also some "older" ones. Hush, Hush was one of the books I picked up after seeing so many good reviews about it.

Michael Grant
When I pictured Gone before I read it, it was a completely different book. I thought it would be more contemporary, apart from the everyone disappears over 15-part. I was so wrong! I was pretty freaked out when I started reading, but in a good way! I'll definitely read more by this author!

Kelly Creagh
Also a discovery on other blogs, thank you guys! You've introduced me to books I would never have read otherwise and my life would be so different. Nevermore was a bit creepy, but I loved it so much!

Honorable mentions:
Since I could only include ten authors and I chose to only include those who I've already read and were published before 2012 I decided to do a honorable mentions this year. I discovered the most new authors through my blog, but from some I haven't read any book yet. Including Jennifer L. ArmentroutCynthia Hand and Marie Lu. They're on the top of my TBR pile for next year!

I would also like to shout out to some authors who got published this year!: Brigid Kemmerer, Sarah J. Maas, Katie McGarry and Tahereh Mafi. Their books were amazing! You don't want to miss them!

What's your Top Ten this week?

  10. I tried reading Hush, Hush some time ago, but I could barely get through a few pages. I guess I should have stuck with it more. A lot of people seem to like it. Did you like it?

    1. Yeah, I liked it. Although I wasn't jumping up and down with joy after finishing it and I'm in no hurry to start book two. Not everyone can like it! :)
