I was a little hesitant about zombie books, too, but I've been trying to ease into them lately, so I got This Is Not a Test from the library this week. I'll have to check out Dearly, Beloved.

I was definitely hesitate to start a zombie book like you, but then I picked up Dearly, Departed. OH WOW, that definitely changed after reading that. IT's great. So great. So is the sequel which you have here. I loved it. I hope you do too!
