Othermoon (Otherkin, #2)Title: Othermoon
Author: Nina Berry
Published: January 29th, 2013 (K-Teen)
Pages: 320

Series:
Otherkin #2
Rating: 2 stars
Synopsis from Goodreads: Everyone has secrets. I had no idea mine would lead me into shadow. Dez has found the place where she belongs. With the otherkin. With Caleb. Or so she thought. As the barriers between our world and Othersphere fall, a wall rises between Dez and Caleb, leaving her fiercest enemy her only friend.

And maybe something more.

Now Dez must make a devastating choice: keep the love of her life, or save the otherkin from annihilation.

You know the feeling when you see a book and you just know it's going to be amazing? I had that with the first book in this series, Otherkin. But when I read I was so disappointed (review). When I got the opportunity to read Othermoon I wanted to give this series another chance. Some part of me just couldn't let the idea of this series being amazing go. Now I wish I had.

The beginning of Othermoon is very abrupt. It was quite some time ago that I'd read Otherkin, so I spend almost a 50 pages wondering what exactly was going on. And when I finally just gave up on the idea of being able to follow the story the author started to repeat things from book one. A little too late.

I also forgot that I didn't really like Nina Berry's writing style. That in combination with the MC, Dez, got me so irritated. There were times I just wanted to throw my ereader through the room. Dez makes so many bad mistakes. She gets everybody in trouble and she doesn't even see why most of the time.

This series had so much promise, but I'm afraid it just isn't for me. If you like a nice story with an original view on paranormal, you might like this book!

  1. Aw! That's so sad that you thought book #1 would be amazing and it wasn't and what's even disappointing is that you were willing to give the series a chance and it still didn't do much! Yes, I'm sure PNR fans might enjoy this. Awesome review, Helene! :D
